Sculpture Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta(jap. [dai]seishi bosatsu), Japan, probably Muromachi period(1336-1573) 15th/16th c., wood-carved figure with red and gold lacquer, the companion of Amitabha in lotus-seat (skrt. padmasana) symbolizing wisdom (skrt. prajna), forming the varada-mudra with his left hand, the folds of the robe and the concentric pattern of the belly-bound sweat cloth typical for the period, probably once with crown and attribute in his right hand, 12x8x5cm
