An antique French sculpture in white metal with bronze patinated surface, in a marriage with an antique French clock. The figure is a depiction of Marianne, the national personification of France and Liberty, modeled on a landscape form circular stepped base having brass plaque with citation FEE AUX OISEAUX ("Fairy Bird") and French language notation basing the work "after Francois (Hippolyte) Moreau" (1832-1927). Her left hand, raised in triumph, holds a torch form to which has been affixed a bolt, and from which is balanced the clock. The sculpture base has a foundry stamp to verso, and is incised L & F MOREAU (L for Louis, or Louis Auguste Moreau, 1834-1917), both artists, and brothers of Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912). The clock has a dark green orb form body with gothic style Roman numerals to face, and scroll and flourish brass embellishments to top and bottom sides. Tri bar pendulum terminating in a like colored orb to bottom.
