Ancient Roman Mold-Blown Glass With Reliev Depicting AJAX Roman Empire / 1st Century A.D. / Glass / H = 8.2 cm (3 15/64 in) Fantastic roman mold-blown glass with reliev depicting the suicide of AJAX and his journey beyond. The documentation states there is an inscription ‘AIAC’ which identifies the hero. Two of the letters are still somewhat indistinctly visible. Condition: Repaired from Fragments. One spot on the back is very unsightly restored. Provenance: Swiss private collection, Basel area. Purchased on the German art marken, Munich. Before that in German private collection, Munich, since 2000.
