Boxing Memorabilia:A bullied 8 year old came across a boxing gym in Gloucester where he was taken under the wing of the men who trained there. He associated with many local and provincial boxers and travelled extensively to watch boxing shows (as they were known then). There he met Jimmy Jury (Bournemouth) where he sat ringside as a youngster, later they became lifelong friends. He attended fights in London and all over England where he became friendly with other boxing enthusiasts particularly those from the Welsh Boxing Association. Both his and Jimmy Jury's collection grew that included letters from Freddie Mills who was a good friend to Jimmy when they were both on the boxing booth circuit. Many of the scrap books were collated by the vendor himself but much of the memorabilia were bequeathed over the years by his boxing friends. Boxing became an obsession for that small boy and this passion stayed with him throughout his adult life.
