A SHADOW AGATE ‘SCHOLAR’ PENDANT, CHINA, 1750-1850Of teardrop form, finely carved utilizing the dark areas of the stone to depict a scholar resting under a pine and playing with his beard, with a wasp perched on the low hanging branch, the reverse with rockwork. The translucent stone is of a misty-gray tone with dark brown patches.Provenance: British trade.
