A BLUE AND WHITE HEXAGONAL BALUSTER VASE, LATE QING DYNASTYChina, 19th century. The baluster body supported on a gently spreading foot to a long waisted neck with a flared rim, the neck flanked by two openwork handles in the form of branches bearing pomegranates, finely painted in underglaze blue depicting a mountain and river landscape with pavilions and figures including an equestrian and farmer traversing a bridge, a fisherman on his boat, and a scholar in a pavilion.Provenance: From the private estate of Dr. Rudolf Majlat (1923-2007), who was an Austrian diplomat serving as consul general to Hong Kong between 1963 and 1971.
