A LARGE ARCHAISTIC GOLD AND SILVER-INLAID BRONZE VASE, HU, QING DYNASTYChina, 18th-19th century. The pear-shaped body rising from a splayed foot to a waisted neck and flaring rim, flanked by a pair of archaistic phoenix handles with notched flanges, the body and neck each cast with a band enclosing taotie masks divided by short flanges, the lower body with pendent stiff leaves enclosing stylized confronting phoenixes, all reserved on leiwen grounds, highlighted with gold and silver inlays. The recessed base incised with a six-character mark. Rich patina with malachite encrustations and cuprite splashes.Inscriptions: To the base, ‘Bei [...] zuo bao zun yi'.Provenance: Philadelphia trade.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and casting irregularities including minimal stress cracks with associated tiny losses.
