A BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI, MING DYNASTYChina, 1368-1644. Seated in dhyanasana above a detachable double lotus base, with his right hand lowered in bhumisparsa mudra and the left lowered above his upturned feet, dressed in long flowing robes opening at the chest, tied at the waist, and cascading in folds, the hems incised with lotus flowers. The face with a serene expression marked by heavy-lidded eyes below gently arched brows centered by an urna above full lips forming a subtle smile, flanked by elongated earlobes. The hair arranged in tight pointed curls surrounding an ushnisha.Provenance: Old Austrian private collection.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and casting flaws, small losses, remnants of lacquer gilding, malachite encrustations.
