A GILT COPPER-ALLOY FIGURE OF BHAISHAJYAGURU, NEPAL, 13TH-14TH CENTURYThe Medicine Buddha seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base with beaded borders, both hands holding a bowl filled with water, dressed in a fine robe, the hems incised with scrolls, open at the right shoulder, and falling elegantly below the feet. The face is finely cast with a serene expression, full lips, flanked by elongated earlobes, and the hair tightly arranged in spikes covering the ushnisha below a globular jewel.Provenance: From the collection of an artist and university professor in Vienna.Condition: Very good condition with wear, mostly to gilt, as well as few nicks, small dents, light surface scratches, and minor casting flaws. Fine, naturally grown patina with an unctuous feel overall.
