AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF EMPEROR JAHANGIR AND HIS SONS VISITING A HERMITIndia, 19th century. Ink, gilt, and watercolors on wasli paper. Depicting the emperor with his two sons Shah Jahan and Khusrau Mirza gathering with a hermit and other men dressed in fine robes, carrying Mughal daggers, swords, and shields. Precious vessels and books are assembled before them, and a white cat perched next to the river. The background with rocks and a river with egrets and deer, and in the distance a castle and buildings, all below a vibrant sky dotted with swirling clouds.
