Compare the two bowls of very similar form, glazed brown on the exterior with black and brown 'partridge-feather' mottles on the interior, illustrated by Mowry, Hare's Fur, Tortoiseshell, and Partridge Feathers: Chinese Brown- and Black-Glazed Ceramics, 400-1400, Cambridge, 1996, pp. 142-144, no. 38a&b, noting similar examples were excavated from the Guantai kilns in Hebei province.
