Description Russian silver and gilt signature cigarette case with applied decorations. One side with an applied enamel crest, initials, a wild boar, two scrolls with etched names along the upper left and lower right, and further etched initials along the lower left. The other side with a fly heading towards a spiderweb flanked by two flowers, a blue cabochon stone along the center of the web, and applied signature along the upper right. With a blue cabochon stone clasp. Etched inscription in Cyrillic along the interior. Marked with an 84 Kokoshnik and maker's mark in two spots along the interior.Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Condition Report The case is in good condition in general with no major cracks, or visible losses. Wear throughout. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. Light oxidation throughout as expected; light discoloration due to oxidation. The round blue jewel is intact. To the right and left of the jewel, there is a minute crack on each side. There is a minor dent to the interior, which does not affect the overall appearance of the piece. The case opens well and clasps firmly. The case stays shut when clasped.Please contact us for a detailed condition report.
