The addition of the seconds hand enhances the readability of the dial and gave the watch a modern appeal. However, it was quickly discontinued due to the introduction of the Nautilus reference 5711 which is long loved by all collectors. Approximately only 700 pieces were made and all in white gold, the rarity of the current piece cannot be overstated as the Nautilus is seldomly encased in precious metal with a bracelet. In 2022, Patek Philippe released the reference 5811 in white gold to replace the legendary 5711, tipping a hat to the current reference 3711 and will remain to be one of the most sought-after pieces in the market.
