It combines two of the most renowned watchmaking complications, namely the tourbillon and the minute repeater. Both can be observed through the sapphire crystal case back, as one is sure to be stunned by the mechanical movement RTO 27 PS composed of 336 individual parts. The tourbillon works around gravity to improve the accuracy of the watch. As aligning with the philosophy and beauty with the brand, the tourbillon carriage is hidden away on the case back, instead of obstructing the view of the dial. Some collectors believe this reserves the tourbillon to be enjoyed by the user, others may say it is to avoid the tourbillon from getting exposed to the sunlight. The minute repeater on the other hand chimes the current time with precision. Before there was artificial lighting, the repeater aided users to tell time in the dark. Although its real purpose is long gone, the legacy of its mechanism is inherited and widely favoured by watch collectors. Lastly, the enamel dial is crafted with extreme precision to heat management and quality standards, further more complete with elegant Breguet numerals and of course, like all other tourbillon watches from Patek Philippe, the movement number is proudly marked on the dial. The reference 3939 started production in 1993 and the present example is one of the earliest from 1994, as confirmed by the extract from the archives. To the best of our knowledge, no more than 200 examples were made. While most examples of the reference 3939 on the market are discovered in platinum or yellow gold, the present watch features a rare white gold case, making this an extraordinary opportunity to acquire this exemplifying timepiece.
