Ambassador Bane served as consul general in Lahore, Pakistan from 1961 to 1964,Thence by descentNOTE: According to a catalogue from an exhibition held at the Alhamra Pakistan Art Council in Lahore, October 24, 1960, Sharif was born in Lahore to a family of traditional Mughal court artists. His grandfather Alla Ditta studied under Mirza Shah Rukh Beg, Delhi, and became court artist in Patiala. Sharif's father, Bisharat Ullah also was an artist.
