Ca. 400-300 BC. A fish plate in a type of pinaxion, a shallow tablet-style plate, featuring a shallow rim decorated with a wave pattern and three fish (sea bream?) swimming around the central recess for garum (fish sauce). All sit on top of a short, stepped foot. It is believed that this particular design originated from the region of Campania in southern Italy, with the wave pattern symbolizing the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
