A Chinese ormolu-mounted celadon-glazed 'bamboo' groupQing dynasty, the porcelain 18th/19th century, the mount 1815-1830Modelled as a pair of bamboo shoots issuing from craggy rocks, with a small bird perched in between, all mounted on a French gilt-bronze base inscribed 'Escalier de Crystal Paris', 13cm high overall.清十八/十九世紀 鑲銅鎏金底座青釉竹子,「Escalier de Crystal Paris」款L'Escalier de Crystal was a 19th century luxury store in Paris that opened in 1808, and started specialising in the sale of gilt bronze and fine porcelains from 1815; when it also became a regular haunt for Royal customers. The mention 'l'Escalier de Crystals' is particularly associated to the period 1815-1829, when the store was run by Marie Désarnaud, who installed a crystal staircase in 1815 and sold the shop in 1829 to Jacques Boin, crystal carver and engraver. From 1830, the new shop owners reduced the mention 'à l’Escalier de Cristal' to 'Boin tailleur et graveur sur cristaux' (Boin carver and engraver on crystals).
