A CHINESE QINGBAI EWER AND COVER Song Dynasty 宋 青白釉執壺連蓋 The lobed body rising to a flared neck, set to the shoulder with a tall, flat looping handle opposite a slender curving spout, the top of the handle applied with a small loop, the cover also with a small loop besides a moulded leafy bud decoration to the centre, covered in a bluish-white glaze that darkens in the recesses, together with a box, 24.5cm high (3) c.f. A similar ewer, dated to the Song Dynasty and exhibiting a flat base like the present lot, is in the Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, acc. no. F1907.285. Aparable ewer was sold at Christie's New York, 22nd March 2018, lot 531. Anotherparable piece was offered at New York, 18th March 2019, lot 610. A similar ewer is illustrated in Eskenazi, Ancient Chinese bronze vessels, gilt bronzes and early ceramics, June - July 1973, p.97, no. 61.
