The painting depicts an old man sitting under a tree with a boy carrying lotus on his back, signed ''Painted by Shaonan Xiaosong'', with seals ''Shaosong Shi'' and ''Lai Shaonan Yin''. With traces of age, partially damaged. Lai Shaonan was a painter in Province Fujian. He was a military attaché of the Fujian Navy and later lived in Xiamen.
