DescriptionVery elaborate Vietnamese Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), Tam Khi (3 colored metal) inlaid bronze censor; the body and cover allover inlaid with copper, silver and gilt metal (possibly brass); the body depicting very expansive figural scene in panel beneath a border of repeating floral designs with storm clouds and characters supported by three lion head feet with mouths open, extending to curved legs forming the feet; the handles in the form of dragon heads with mouths open breathing vaporous clouds terminating in ruyi form handles; the cover similarly inlaid with floral sprays of mixed copper and silver with openwork shou characters, topped with a very large and finely detailed foo lion holding it's ball with mouth open; attributed to Long Tho Foundry, Hue, the imperial capital of Vietnam during Nguyen dynasty; similar piece sold at Christie's New York in September 2010; overall good condition, some surface wear contestant with age, some tarnishing and minor flaws; good condition- Handle reattached with general marks and surface wear, scratches, rubbing, and flaws; H 18" (Approx.)
