A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘DRAGON’ CIGARETTE BOX, c. 1920sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). Of rectangular shape with a hinged cover with clasp, the top decorated with a five-clawed dragon within a double circle writhing around a flaming pear, the backside a mandala centered by a happiness symbol, all against a black ground with scrolling clouds on the cover and scales on the back. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and manufacturing irregularities such as pitting. Provenance: Estate of an Austrian collector, the collection was assembled in the 1980s – 1990s through purchases at Galerie Zacke and other specialized galleries in Vienna.
