A GLAZED SAWANKHALOK CERAMIC ´HUMANOID´ VESSELThailand/ Sawankhalok/ Sukhothai Province - 14th - 16th century. The small ceramic vase molded as a seated anthropomorphic figure, with bulging eyes, arched eyebrows, rectangular nose, and toothy smile creating a whimsical expression. The legs are positioned close to each side of the body, while the arms are placed at the front, the backside adorned with incised wavy lines. Covered overall in a pale celadon glaze stopping uneven above the foot revealing the buff ware. Condition: Good condition with minor wear and firing flaws, with a chip to one eyebrow. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
