A CHAM BRONZE CANDLE HOLDERVietnam, former kingdoms of Champa, circa 10TH to 12th century. Supported on a domed circular base and a tiered stem, cast on the top with a tray and a candle holder. Condition: Good condition overall, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, signs of weathering, corrosion, and encrustations. Fine, naturally grown malachite patina. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
