A RED AND GILT-LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF A CROWNED BUDDHAVietnam, 18th century. Carved seated in dhyanasana atop a lotus base, the left hand raised in shunimudra and the right holding a disc-shaped object, wearing a loose-fitting robe opening at the chest, the serene face with heavy-lidded downcast eyes and full lips forming a subtle smile, the hair surmounted by a crown. Condition: Weathering, age cracks, losses, and some repairs to the left-hand fingers and to the crown. Extensive wear to lacquer, the underside with a drilled hole.
