A FINE NECKLACE WITH IRIDESCENT MIDDLE EASTERN GLASS BEADSThe glass beads from the Middle East, Roman period, c. 30 BC to 300 AD. The necklace consisting of 11 tubular glass beads, intercepted by 12 smaller glass beads and tiny metal beads. The translucent transparent glass beads enveloped in sparkling flakes of rainbow and silver-hued iridescence. Condition: Very good condition with age related wear and weathering, few nicks, chips, and flakes. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
