A BACTRIAN LAPIS LAZULI INTAGLIO TALISMAN WITH HUNTING SCENEPresumably ancient region of Bactria, c. 2500 years old. Of flattened oval form, engraved to one side with a seated and a standing figure holding spears and hunting an animal, pierced to the top. The stone of a deep blue hue amid dense speckles in various shades of gray beneath glimmering mica flecks.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and age as well as natural imperfections to the stone. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
