A LOT WITH FOUR BACTRIAN WHITE MARBLE AND STONE IDOL HEADSBactria-Margiana, c. late 3rd to early 2nd millennium BC. Two carved from milky-white marble, one from white stone and one from an ochre stone, depicting faces dominated by large eyes, prominent noses, and delicate mouths, the necks flaring. Condition: Good condition commensurate with age, wear, signs of weathering and minor nicks here and there. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
