A GRECO-BACTRIAN BANDED AGATE INSET GOLD PENDANTPresumably Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, c. 3rd – 2nd century BC. The translucent stone of a pale orange color with white bands, set in a gold and surmounted by two tiny turquoise tubular beads and two metal beads. Alloy composition analysis: Gold 20% karat. Silver 14.6% purity. The pendant was tested by the Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum.Condition: Good condition with minor wear, the agate with few notches. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
