AN AMUSING GRECO-BACTRIAN HARDSTONE FIGURE OF A CATPresumably Greco-Bactrian Kingdom, c. 3rd – 2nd century BC. Carved as a wildcat, with an unusually elongated body and hind legs, depicted sitting on its long hind legs and slightly rising its body and front legs, giving it a dynamic and playful appearance. The face minimally detailed with carved eyes and a simple line for a mouth, conveying a sense of amusement. Condition: The hind legs reattached, otherwise good condition with expected traces of age and wear. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above.
