A NAGALAND MULTI-COLORED GLASS, BRASS AND SHELL NECKLACE, c. 1900sNagaland, India/Burma, late 19th to early 20th century. Consisting of small tubular glass beads in shades of red and green placed into three strands that come together at five points in the necklace, at each of these points, there is a shell bead, few disc-shaped glass beads, a black bead, and an elongated conch shaped brass bead. At the center there is a small trumpet-shaped brass pendant. On a textile string.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and wear. Provenance: Romy Rey Collection, London. Romy Rey (1938-2020) was born in Zurich, Switzerland, studied in Paris and Geneva, and settled in London in the 1960s. She shared her life with the artist Brian Davies (1942-2014), in London and in Southern France. Romy was an avid traveler and dedicated collector of tribal art.
