A NAGALAND MULTI-COLORED GLASS, BRASS AND SHELL NECKLACE, c. 1900sNagaland, India/Burma, late 19th to early 20th century. Made from multi-colored glass beads of various sizes and shapes, such as small turquoise colored glass beads that are arranged into three strands, while the rest are set into a single strand, two elongated brass beads and two brass disc beads, a central brass pendant with suspended ornaments, and two shell beads. The combination of different bead sizes and shapes creates a textured and intricate look. On a textile string.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and wear. Some beads with pitting and few chips. Provenance: Romy Rey Collection, London. Romy Rey (1938-2020) was born in Zurich, Switzerland, studied in Paris and Geneva, and settled in London in the 1960s. She shared her life with the artist Brian Davies (1942-2014), in London and in Southern France. Romy was an avid traveler and dedicated collector of tribal art.
