A NAGALAND MULTI-COLORED GLASS, BRASS AND SHELL NECKLACE, c. 1900sNagaland, India/Burma, late 19th to early 20th century. Made from multi-colored glass beads of various sizes and shapes, such as small orange glass rectangular beads or brown irregular beads, globular shell beads, and brass beads of triangular shape. The necklace is arranged into three strands that come together occasionally and the center is set with six trumpet-shaped brass pendants. On a textile string.Condition: Good condition with expected traces of use and wear. Some beads with few tiny chips. Provenance: Romy Rey Collection, London. Romy Rey (1938-2020) was born in Zurich, Switzerland, studied in Paris and Geneva, and settled in London in the 1960s. She shared her life with the artist Brian Davies (1942-2014), in London and in Southern France. Romy was an avid traveler and dedicated collector of tribal art.
