A WESTERN ASIATIC STYLE OPENWORK BRONZE PLAQUE WITH TIGERSStyle of the ancient Western Asiatic region yet dating to the 19th – 20th century. Cast in openwork with two tigers standing on their hind legs, with one tiger's image appearing as the mirrored reflection of the other, with fine details and within a striped frame. Condition: Good condition with minor wear. The right side of the frame with a small crack. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
