盘为撇口，浅壁，足圈露胎。全器里、外面均施黄釉，色调沉稳，黄彩饱满，为少见的黄釉器中佳器。盘里心暗刻正龙图案；盘外壁为素面暗刻火云纹，线条虽较为简单，刻画却逼真生动，与清代中晚期繁缛的纹饰形成明显区别；底心中央内楷书“大明弘治年制”6字款。 明代黄釉器因具有特殊含义而被皇家所垄断，是宫廷中祭祀和陈设的专用器物，一般官宦和普通百姓绝不允许使用。在明代，弘治时期的黄釉器颇具代表性，其制釉色娇嫩，色彩淡雅，无论是制胎刻花，施釉光色，还是烧造工艺，都是明代黄釉器中的最高水平
