A PALE CELADON JADE ‘BAMBOO’ SNUFF BOTTLE, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
China. Finely carved, the cylindrical body supported on a short concave foot, the slightly rounded shoulder surmounted by a short neck, the body carved with leafy bamboo stalks growing from craggy rockwork. The translucent stone of a pale celadon hue with cloudy and icy inclusions.


Provenance:
The property of a gentleman in London, United Kingdom. Bonhams London, 5 November 2020, lot 233. A private collection in France, acquired from the above.

Condition:
Excellent condition with minor wear and light nibbling. The jade has natural inclusions and fissures, some of which may have developed into small hairline cracks.
