A PINK AND WHITE SANDWICHED GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, CHINA, 1730-1820
Of spade form, the body supported on a short straight foot and rising to a cylindrical neck with a wide mouth, the surface displaying a myriad of pink 'blushing' splashes.


Provenance:
From the collection of a prominent snuff bottle collector in New York, USA. The base with an old collector’s label, ‘ixxx k525’.

Condition:
Very good condition with minor old wear and manufacturing irregularities, the foot with a minuscule nick.

The pink and white color of this sandwiched glass snuff bottle
comes from powdered ruby glass added between two layers of glass, the outer of which has to be either transparent, or at least semi-transparent. Sandwiched glass bottles were a popular staple at the Qing Court during the 18th century, and this color was particularly admired.

壺身削肩，豐胸，下收斂，短足，頸呈圓柱形，壺口直徑較寬。壺身表面有紅白相間的“紅暈”斑紋。

狀況極好，有輕微磨損和製造不規則，足部有微小的刻痕。

粉紅白色套料鼻煙壺
是指由寶石紅色料滿套與胎色不同的另一透明色料完成的，至少兩種以上玻璃製成。據史料記載，在十八世紀己有套玻璃這一品種。
