此作选用和田白玉籽料，玉质细腻油润，色泽温润内敛，如凝脂，远观见宝光盈盈，近触则温润有加。圆雕狮子双目炯炯，目视前方，宽口阔鼻，口微张，虽獠牙外露，却似面带微笑。抬腿挠腮，惟妙惟肖，又憨态可掬，形神兼备。整器造型圆润趁手，雕工细致精巧，令人爱不释手。狮子最早在汉代作为西域贡品进入中国，只有皇家拥有，备受珍视，随着佛教的传入与流行，狮子作为佛教中的「灵兽」，成为人们心中的守护神，被赋予了辟除邪祟和护佑吉祥的美好寓意。
