艾迪．馬丁內斯自小時對繪畫的好奇，生活在充滿街頭塗鴉文化的美國大都會，皆成為他後來成為藝術家的養分。 早期作品因流行文化的啟發，傾向於暴力意象、瘋狂的漫畫風格，後來逐漸轉向抽象畫，藝評家認為，他的藝術屬於街頭藝術，拼貼風格，更應回溯到20 世紀的1950年代的傳統經典，彷彿普普藝術、行為藝術、抽象表現主義、眼鏡蛇畫派的大混搭，而馬丁內斯的作品也深深吸引周杰倫成為他的粉絲，更帶動了全球收藏浪潮。
