AUßERGEWÖHNLICH GROßE BI-SCHEIBE. China. Dunkelgrüne, gefleckte Jade mit teils flammenartig geformten, unterschiedlich grünen Einschlüssen. Die beeindruckend große Scheibe ist an der Durchbrechung leicht abgeschrägt, wie dies bei sehr frühen Stücken oft zu finden ist. Das interessant strukturierte Material wurde sorgfältig bearbeitet und die Oberfläche geglättet und poliert.Bi-Scheiben gelten als Symbol des Himmels und wurden als Grabbeigaben verwendet. Allerdings waren die Scheiben aber auch prestigeträchtige Gegenstände und aufgrund des Materials wie der aufwendigen Herstellung ausschließlich im Besitz hochstehender Personen. Eine Dekoration der Oberfläche durch Knubben oder andere Motive ist meist erst nach der neolithischen Periode (3400-2250 v.Chr.) zu finden. Gewicht 20,7kg, Ø 73,3cm, Dicke 1,8cm. Zustand A/B.
