SHADAKSHARI LOKESHVARA. Tibet. Wohl 18./19. Jh. Kupferbronze mit dunkler Patina und Vergoldung. Sitzend in padamasana auf einem doppelten Lotos. Die beiden Haupthände in anjali mudra zusammengelegt bergen ein Wunschjuwel, das für den Geist der Erleuchtung steht. In der erhobenen Rechten hielt er einst eine Gebetskette, mit der Linken hält er einen Lotus. Er trägt den siebenteiligen Bodhisattvaschmuck und eine hohe Krone, in der sich eine kleine Darstellung seines geistigen Vater, des Buddha Amithabha findet. Gesicht, Hände, Füße und der Lotosthron sind nicht vergoldet und bilden einen deutlichen farblichen Kontrast. Boden des Sockels verschlossen.Diese Form des Avalokiteshvara (Bodhisattva der Anteilnahme) verkörpert das bekannte mantra 'om mani padme hum'. Die sechs Silben entsprechen den sechs Bereichen der Existenz, deren Wesen er die Erleuchtung bringt. Dabei handelt es sich um die Bereiche der Götter, der Halbgötter, der Menschen, der Tiere, der Hungergeister und zuletzt der Hölle. Gewicht 1780g, Höhe 24,2cm, Breite 15,7cm. Zustand A/B. Sitting in padmasana on a double lotus. Both major hands in anjali mudra holding the wish-granting jewel which symbolizes enlightenment. In his raised right hand he once held prayer beads, in his left he holds a lotus bud at his shoulder. He wears seven-partite Bodhisattva jewels and a high crown, which is adorned with a small picture of his spiritual father Buddha Amithhaba. Face, hands, feet and the lotus throne are not gilt and make a pleasing contrast. Base closed underneath. This form of Avalokiteshvara (Bodhisattva of compassion) embodies the well-known mantra 'om mani padme hum'. This six syllables correspond to the six realms of existence, whose residents he brings enlightenment. The realms are that of the gods, the half gods, the humans, the animals, the hunger spirits and finally the realm of hell. Weight 1780g, height 24,2cm, width 15,7cm.
