Elfenbein, in hinterschnittenem, sehr detailreichem Relief geschnitzt, Muster fein graviert, die Augen dunkel bemalt. Ein Schreinfest vor dem Tor (torii) eines Tenmangû-Schreins unter Kiefern und blühenden Kirschen. Unter den mehr als sechzig Personen finden sich ein Falkner, weitere Samurai, Händler, Gaukler und Musikanten, Spieler, Reisigträgerinnen, Teegerät-, Grillen- und Fächerverkäufer sowie zahlreiche spielende Kinder. Inmitten der Menge vergnügt sich auch Suguwara Michizane (845-903), der in Tenmangû-Schreinen als Gott der Gelehrsamkeit verehrt wird. Obwohl er sein Gesicht teilweise mit einem Tuch verdeckt hat, ist er durch einen blühenden Pflaumenzweig und einen geknoteten Brief identifizierbar. Höhe 47cm, Ø unten 16,3cm, oben 15cm. Zustand A/B. Among the more than sixty persons strolling under pines and flowering cherry trees a falconer and other samurai, merchants, jugglers and musicians, gamblers and mongers for tea tools, insects and fans are found. Many children are playing between the adults. One of the persons is Suguwara Michizane (845-903) himself, holding a flowering plum branch and a folded letter.
