New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, 1292-1189 BC. A black glass scarab with detailing to the carapace; the underside engraved with bound papyrus and lotus plants representing sma-tawy, the Union of the Two Lands, with ankh (sign of life) either side of a neb sign. 2.10 grams, 16mm (1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent. Fine condition.
