3rd-1st century BC. A bronze figurine of a dancing girl wearing a long flowing dress, tied over the left shoulder and bound at the waist; right leg stretched back, arms raised and twisted to the left, left hand holding a tubular ribbed object, possibly part of a serpent; head raised to the right with hair tied back in a low bun. Cf. Louvre, accession number CA 800 for a terracotta dancing girl holding a similar objects identified as serpents. 97 grams, 74mm (3"). From an old Suffolk collection; formed 1990-2000. Fine condition.
