3rd-7th century AD. A bronze brooch in the form of a peacock with plumed tail and elaborate head feathers; silvered to the front, pin and catchplate to the reverse. 7.4 grams, 45mm (1 3/4"). Property of a North London lady; gifted from her father's collection; formerly with a Mayfair gallery, London, UK; previously acquired in the 1980s. Fair condition.
