A bronze lamp stand comprising a domed base with flange rim and three feet each formed as an openwork crouching feline, tubular stand with flange and bulb below, perforated bulb above, upper dish; ornamental low-relief knotwork to the base and text to the lower bulb. Property of a London gentleman; previously acquired in London, in 1967. Accompanied by metallurgic analytical report number 115151/571, written by Metallurgist Dr. Brian Gilmour of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford.
