2nd century AD. A restrung necklace of polyhedral and globular blue glass beads with ten later hollow-formed gold spacers with filigree and granule detailing. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 101 for type. 52 grams, 64cm (25 1/4"). From a private collection formed in North America; acquired on the US art market in the early 1990s. Very fine condition.
