2nd-3rd century AD. A mixed group of bronze brooches (a knee brooch and a P-shaped bow brooch) in unfinished state directly from the mould, before being worked and polished by the craftsman. Cf. Hattatt, R. Brooches of Antiquity, Oxford, 1987, items 1241 and 1244. 24.8 grams total, 45-50mm (1 3/4 - 2"). Property of a North London gentleman; previously in an important collection of Roman brooches, Munich, Germany. [2, No Reserve] Fine condition.
