1st-3rd century AD. A silver finger ring with round-section hoop and broad flat shoulders, discoid plaque; to the shoulders the incised legend 'VTYX', '????', to the bezel 'Z A'. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 226. 4.6 grams, 22.9mm overall, 18.2mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 8, Europe 17.15, Japan 16) (1"). Property of a North West London gallery; formerly in a 1980s collection. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
