2nd-3rd century AD. A gold marriage ring comprising a flat-section hoop, pinched shoulders, applied repoussé motif of iunctio dextrarum clasped hands. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 187 for type. 3.20 grams, 18.95mm overall, 16.59mm internal diameter (approximate size British l 1/2, USA 6, Europe 12, Japan 11) (3/4"). From a private Dutch family collection; acquired in the Netherlands before 1999. Fine condition.
