1st century AD. A silver finger ring comprising a D-section hoop and ellipsoid bezel with intaglio running boar motif. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 232. 10.86 grams, 23.8mm overall, 18.6mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 7 3/4, Europe 16.86, Japan 16"). (1"). From an East London collector; previously in a collection formed between 1990-2000. The running boar symbol was adopted by Legio X Fretensis, the Tenth Legion. Very fine condition.
